Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
TheDock, a service operated by DAC Sweden AB ("we", "our", or "us"), provides the free tools available at tools.thedock.io ("TheDock Tools"). This Privacy Policy explains what limited data we process when you use these tools. TheDock Tools requires no account, no signup and no payment. Most tools run entirely in your browser and never send your input to us.
2. Information We Collect
We deliberately collect as little as possible:
- Tool input stays in your browser. Tools such as the UTM Link Builder, QR Code Generator, Meta & OG Preview, Slug & Case Converter and Word & Character Counter process everything locally on your device. That data is never transmitted to or stored by us.
- Secure Note. When you create a secure note, it is encrypted in your browser (AES-256-GCM) before anything is sent. We only ever receive and store the encrypted text; the decryption key lives in the link fragment (after the #) and is never sent to our servers. See section 4.
- Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider may process technical data (such as IP address and request metadata) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. These logs are short-lived and not used to identify you.
- Analytics (only with your consent). If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage. IP addresses are anonymized. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. See section 5.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide and maintain the tools.
- To measure aggregate, anonymized usage and improve the tools (only with consent).
- To detect, investigate and prevent abuse and security incidents.
We do not use your data for profiling or automated decision-making, and we never sell it.
4. Secure Note & Encryption
The Secure Note tool is zero-knowledge: encryption and decryption happen in your browser, so we cannot read your notes. Encrypted notes are stored temporarily and are permanently deleted after the first time they are read ("burn after reading") or when the expiry you choose (from 5 minutes up to 7 days) is reached — whichever comes first.
5. Cookies & Analytics
We use two kinds of cookies:
- Consent cookie (essential). A small cookie (thedock_cookie_consent) remembers your cookie choice across TheDock sites. It contains no tracking identifiers beyond a random consent id.
- Analytics cookies (optional). Set only if you click "Accept all". We use Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode, so no analytics or advertising storage is used until you consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your cookies.
6. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We rely on a small number of processors who act on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery and storage of encrypted secure notes.
- Google Analytics — aggregate, anonymized analytics (only with consent).
7. Data Retention
- Client-side tool input: never stored by us.
- Secure notes: until first read or expiry (max 7 days), then permanently deleted.
- Server logs: retained only as long as needed for security and abuse prevention.
- Analytics: retained according to your Google Analytics settings.
8. Your Rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because most tools store nothing about you, in many cases we simply hold no data to act on. To exercise any right, contact us below.
9. International Users
DAC Sweden AB is based in Sweden (European Union). By using TheDock Tools you understand that limited technical data may be processed by our providers (see section 6), who provide appropriate safeguards for any international transfers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
